Dante Van Wyk, young resident of Brackenfell speaks to the media before he is seen beating EFF members who tried to proceed to the school entrance to picket against alleged racism at the school. The school was at the centre of a social media storm after a video of a school prom was posted on social and it showed only white students at the prom. It was alleged that no black students were invited.

The school chose to distance itself from the event, even though two teachers attended the event and the video was posted on the school's social media platforms and was removed after their was an outcry.

Dante Van Wyk says in Afrikaans that they will not allow the EFF to make trouble at the school and that they are all there to protect the school. He is later filmed in several scenes assaulting EFF members and swearing at them.

After images emerged from the protest, his name trended on Twitter in South Africa for more than two days as South Africans expressed outrage at the unprovoked attack on people wanting to exercise their constitutional right to protest.
