Jaco Pretorius, seen at a protest where mostly white residents of Brackenfell prevented peaceful protest by mostly 'blackEFF' (Economic Freedom Fighters) to proceed. The EFF wanted to picket outside the school after a video emerged of the school's prom and it appears no black students were invited.

The school claims the prom was a private event arranged by parents because of COVID -19 regulations that prohibit public gatherings. However, the video was filmed by the school videographer and posted on the school's social media platforms. Two teachers from the school also attended the event.

In the footage, three shots can be heard. Pretorius was arrested by the police and later released on a warning to appear in court.
