A refugee facility in Bellville, Cape Town, has been stripped of all water and sanitation facilities.

Refugees are now forced to wash their clothes, bodies, food utensils, and other items in makeshift washing bays in the scorching sun.

According to Mama Mary (not her real name), authorities from the national government as well as Cape Town Metro Police, arrived at the facility last week and removed all water and sanitation facilities.

The refugees have been at the site since April 2, after South Africa's COVID-19 disaster regulations were implemented.

The refugees want the UNHCR to resettle them in safer countries because of fear of xenophobia in South Africa. The UN agency has stated they don't meet the requirements for resettlement.
