Surfers ride the Severn bore in freezing UK temperatures

A cool video has emerged of surfers withstanding freezing temperatures to ride the Severn bore in Gloucestershire, UK.

In the footage, captured late last month, surfers can be seen riding the wave for several metres along the River Severn.

“The Severn bore was breaking well this month, here is a little of the footage showing two types of surf boards being used on the wave. A chilly but very clear day for surfing tidal bores!” the filmer later wrote online.

The surge wave, which ranges from one-star up to five-stars, is caused by the incoming tide being funnelled up the narrowing Severn Estuary.
