Alex Biron, a 32-year-old Canadian TikTok creator from Vancouver, leaves the wrong key under his doormat in the hope it will help change robbers' lives.

In his viral TikTok from November 9, he reveals why.

"Well, actually, there are a lot of break-ins in this area. And every six months to a year, I'll notice that the key is missing, which means people are trying. But here's the thing. It's not the key to my house. It doesn't unlock anything around here."

"If opportunistic thieves try and use it, they’ll realize it doesn’t open the door. However, I include instructions for the thieves to access a safety deposit box with money and a self-help book," Alex said.

He continues: "And I hope there'll be a moment of reflection there, where he'll think, 'What am I doing with my life?', and maybe he'll change.

"A very Canadian way of dealing with criminals."

Alex has since blown up on TikTok (@everydayalex), receiving 15.8 MILLION views and an outpour of support.
