People in civilian uniforms and masks came to their courtyard to take off opposition white-red-white ribbons. Roman was one of those who came out to ask what was going on. He asked the masked man a question and was strongly pushed away and hit his head very hard. After that Roman was beaten, detained, and taken away in the van.

At night, 31-year-old Roman Bondarenko was admitted to the hospital with large cerebral edema, closed craniocerebral trauma, subdural hematomas, bruises, abrasions. The operation took several hours. Doctors assessed his condition as critical.
