A huge waterspout tornado was seen sweeping across the ocean in the Philippines, on Thursday (November 12). The funnel-shaped cloud shaped like an elephant trunk started after a rainstorm. It was surrounded by dark grey clouds in the town of Palompon in Leyte province.

Onlooker Aian Gonzaga recorded the natural weather phenomenon. He said: ''I saw this just after fishing. It was spectacular.''

Waterspouts are intense columns of swirling tornado clouds that form over a body of water. They are most commonly found in subtropical areas and disappear shortly after they come into contact with land.
