At least 1,000 people were detained in Belarus on Sunday (November 15) during protests against President Alexander Lukashenko, according to the Viasna human rights organisation.

Footage shows security forces fire stun grenades to disperse protesters who had gathered in Minsk.

The protesters were marching to honour 31-year-old demonstrator Roman Bondarenko, who was allegedly beaten to death by security forces on November 12.

Several hundred people were detained at protests in Belarus. One of the main points of mass detentions was the so-called square of changes in Minsk, which the security forces cleared in 9 minutes. Stun grenades were used against protesters in the capital. This is the first Sunday rally since the death of beaten opposition supporter Roman Bondarenko in Minsk.
