NBF Craft (@Nbf_craft), located in Padang Sarai, West Sumatra, makes piggy banks, key chains, teapots, handbags from coconut shells, with prices ranging from Rp. 5,000 to Rp. 300,000 (less than $1 to $20).
Coconut shell craftswoman and owner Nesa Bukti Farsa, 20, said that during the pandemic her business, which was started 10 years ago, declined and none of the handicrafts were selling.
"We entered the digital world and thank God. In the future, this business will continue to develop and market digitally. Especially during the current pandemic, people are more interested in shopping online to prevent transmission," she explained.
The family business also began to sew and sell masks to stabilize their small shop.
Nesa, who is the first child of five siblings, hopes the business will continue to grow and invite local residents to work together so that they can reduce unemployment in the community.
After being stopped for a few months during the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) period some time ago due to the Covid 19 pandemic, NBF_Craft's efforts are now starting to rise and enter the digital world in marketing coconut shell-based crafts.
NBF_Craft, which is located on Jalan Teratai Indah RT 01 RW 09 Kelurahan Padang Sarai, Koto Tangah District, Padang, West Sumatra, this is a continuation of the parents' business and has now been marketed throughout Indonesia.

This craft is made up to 40 kinds, such as cute piggy banks, key chains, wallets, handbags, teapots, spoons, glasses, decorative lights and so on, with selling prices ranging from Rp. 5,000 to Rp. 300,000 depending on the model.
Nesa also explained that the interest in continuing this parent's business is because it has great potential in the future and is certainly in demand by many people, even though it is waste, if it is managed properly, it will certainly be a valuable item and produce beauty if it is displayed in your own residence.
"In the future, this business will continue to be developed and also intensively marketed digitally, especially during the current Covid 19 pandemic, people are more interested in shopping through a market place to prevent transmission," he explained.

Setelah terhenti beberapa bulan di masa Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar (PSBB) beberapa waktu lalu karena pandemi Covid 19, usaha NBF_Craft kini mulai bangkit dan masuk ke dunia digital dalam memasarkan kerajinan berbahan dasar tempurung kelapa.
NBF_Craft yang berlokasi di jalan Teratai Indah RT 01 RW 09 Kelurahan Padang Sarai, Kecamatan Koto Tangah, Padang, Sumatera Barat, ini merupakan lanjutan dari usaha orang tua dan kini telah dipasarkan ke seluruh Indonesia.
Pengrajin tempurung kelapa dan pemilik NBF_Craft, Nesa Bukti Farsa (20) mengatakan, dimasa PSBB beberapa bulan lalu, usaha yang telah dirintis oleh orang tua sejak 10 tahun terhenti, penjualan merosot, tidak ada satupun kerajinan yang laku dan juga bantuan dari pemerintah dimasa pandemi pun tak kunjung diraih. Beberapa waktu kemudian, mulai beralih menjahit masker dan dimasukkan ke warung warung agar ekonomi keluarga stabil.
" Masuk masa new normal, penjualan masker mulai turun dan kerajinan tempurung kembali dilakukan dan mulai masuk ke dunia digital dalam memasarkan hingga saat ini, dan alhamdulillah beberapa waktu lalu BLT Banpres UMKM pun baru dirasakan dan bisa digunakan untuk tambahan modal usaha," jelasnya, Senin (16/11/2020).
Kerajinan ini dibuat mencapai 40 macam, seperti celengan lucu, gantungan kunci, dompet, tas tangan, teko, sendok, gelas, lampu hias dan lain sebagainya, dengan harga jual mulai dari Rp.5000 hingga Rp.300.000 tergantung model.
Nesa juga menerangkan, minat melanjutkan usaha orang tua ini karena memiliki potensi besar kedepannya dan pastinya diminati banyak orang, walaupun limbah tapi jika dikelola dengan baik pastinya akan menjadi barang berharga dan menghasilkan keindahan jika terpajang di hunian sendiri.
" Usaha ini kedepannya akan terus dikembangkan dan juga gencar dipasarkan secara digital, terlebih dimasa pandemi Covid 19 saat ini, masyarakat lebih tertarik berbelanja melalui market place untuk mencegah penularan," jelasnya.
Saat ini koleksi kerajinan tersebut bisa di lihat melalui media sosial Instagram @Nbf_craft, sedangkan Facebook dengan akun "nesa farsa", dan jika cuaca cerah biasanya orang tua juga membantu jualan di kawasan pantai, tepatnya di jalan Samudera, Padang pada sore hari.
Nesa yang merupakan anak pertama dari lima saudara ini berharap kedepannya, usaha terus berkembang dan turut mengajak warga sekitar bekerja sama mengembangkan usaha, sehingga nantinya mampu mengurangi pengangguran di tengah masyarakat.
" Jika sudah berkembang, nantinya dibangun galeri kecil dan punya toko sendiri yang diisi dengan ragam kerajinan ini, dan juga berharap ada pihak terkait turut membantu mengembangkan usaha ini kedepannya," harapnya.
