Hairdressers demand tax cut as pandemic hits Spanish beauty industry
Hairdressers in Spain have demanded a tax cut from the Spanish Parliament as the beauty industry has been hit hard by the pandemic.
Footage from November 17 shows many hairdressers outside the parliament building in Madrid performing hair cuts while the supposed customer hold placards with the protesters' demands.
The protesters are calling for the current tax rate to be cut to 10%, which they believe will keep their businesses afloat during the pandemic.
Businesses like hairdressers and beauty salons are currently taxed at a rate of 21%.
Spain entered a six-month lockdown at the start of November and imposed a curfew until the end of May 2021 to curb the rate of infection.
