Leonid meteors realtime video

Buy video

2 meteors, "shooting stars" are seen flying in the nightsky in Switzerland.

they are members of the Leonid meteor shower which peaked 17 november 2020

the first one is seen around 11.30 PM , the other one around 6.30 AM , both in the night of 17-18 november ( the night after the peak which occured in daytime for Europe ).

overall this year's Leonid meteor shower was rather weak, not many were seen.

the next BIG meteor shower however is the Geminids, peak on december 13-14 with pitchblack New Moon , no light, and hundreds of shooting stars.

note that there are several other meteor showers currently active, so if you see a meteor that is not coming from Leo, the Lion constellation, it is not a Leonid.
