Motorcycle riders have to duck under ridiculously low 4ft tall underpass in Indonesia
Motorcycle riders have to duck so they can pass through a ridiculously low underpass in Indonesia.
Footage shows riders bending their heads to the side so they can go under the mini-tunnel in Central Java province on November 15.
The underpass, built beneath a railroad track, had been rarely used because of its ridiculous size.
However, residents have been left with no choice but to use it while a nearby main road is being repaired.
Delik Sumantri, who lives in the village, said the underpass was built more than three decades ago but no one complained about it until now.
He said: "It's been around for a long time as old as the railroad. The underpass is under the railroad tracks."
The underpass is just under 4ft tall and 5ft wide. It can barely accommodate one person at a time.
The frustrated resident added they had to duck every time they pass through, and only motorcycles and pedestrians are allowed in it.
He said: "Because the underpass is low anyone who crosses it must duck. The people there are used to crossing the road.
"Those who travel by car had to find an alternate route which is usually almost double the distance than if they pass here."
The underpass is located on a small road which is a shortcut connecting two areas in the Karangmalang Village of Ketanggungan District.
The Chief of Police for the Responsibility Sector, Adjunct Commissioner Suroto, said they already asked local officials to speed up the road repairs because the underpass can cause accidents.
He said: "The main road for pedestrians and motorbike access is being repaired. So residents prefer to go through the road with the underpass. We are speeding up the construction."
