France has erupted in fury on November 18 over the government's latest bill that threatens freedom of the press, sparking hundreds to descend on Paris in demonstrations that were met with riot police.

Terrifying footage of protesters in Paris having water cannons turned on them has emerged. Several hundred people gathered in France's capital to not only mark the two-year anniversary of the Yellow Vests demonstrations but also to come out against the new Global Security bill.

While the majority of the rally was reportedly peaceful, several disturbances ended in clashes with the police.

Footage shows a large fire in the middle of St. Germain Boulevard and flares are thrown throughout the street. Law enforcement were forced to take refuge in a building hall. One protester threw a projectile at them, while an officer sprayed him with an unidentified can. Some protesters were detained, some fought with the police. Police officers also used water cannons and tear gas to disperse protesters.
