Drunk driver in India crashes through security gate, gets shot at by guard
A drunk driver was SHOT AT after smashing his car through a security gate at a house in northern India.
CCTV footage shows the driver driving through the gate, then backing up and attempting to drive away.
The security guard on duty at the house opened fire, shattering glass, which injured the driver.
The incident took place at Kashipur city in Uttarakhand state on November 16.
A resident of a nearby village, Harpreet Singh, 35, was driving back home in his car when he lost control on the Ramnagar highway and crashed into a house owned by a local businessman Deepak Bali.
The security guard alleged Singh refused to stop, forcing him to fire from his licensed gun.
Singh was moved to a hospital where doctors said he recovering from shrapnel.
Local police are investigating and took a statement from Singh.
Local police office Akshay Prahlad said: “The driver was drunk and overspeeding. The crash happened as he tried to avoid another vehicle on the road. He will face legal action after he recovers.”
