A youngster who fell into a 60-feet deep well was rescued by a team of firefighters in southern India's Tamil Nadu on November 16. The rescue operation took place in Gandhi Nagar near Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district.

A video features the stranded youth inside the well being aided by an official of the Srivilliputhur Fire Department team led by Sundara Guruswamy. The young man is pulled out with the help of a rope tied firmly around his waist. After rescuing the victim, the rescuer is also pulled out with the help of locals.

The man was given immediate first aid after being rescued.

Such incidents have become the grim reality of neighborhoods with exposed wells. A few days back, a boy accidentally fell into the well, who was declared dead after his rescue.

Frequent accidents of similar nature have drawn attention from the Tamil Nadu government which is striving to minimize such tragedies across the state.
