Riot police fired water cannons and tear gas to disperse anti-lockdown protesters in Berlin on Wednesday (November 18).

Thousands of protesters had gathered close to the German Parliament building to protest against the nationwide lockdown and coronavirus restrictions.

Freelance camera operator Conall Kearney told Newsflare: "There were calls to 'storm' the parliament building but this was prevented by police who used water cannons, batons and pepper spray to push back the crowd.

"There were up to 200 people arrested for public order offences and a number of injured police officers after the crowd responded with throwing bottles and pyrotechnics," Kearney added.
