A man was arrested after picking up an unattended makeup bag in the airport and speeding home with it in his car.

The alleged victim, Anpat Pimmetharat, was waiting for a taxi outside the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand when she forgot her bag on November 9.

CCTV footage shows the tired flight passenger standing up from the bench leaving the item behind before getting into a taxi.

The makeup bag contained an eyebrow tattoo machine and other assorted brands of cosmetics worth around 15,000 Baht (375 GBP).

CCTV shows how a man walked up to the unattended bag before sitting beside it.

He appeared to check if anyone could see him before grabbing the lost baggage and rushing to his car before speeding away.

Kittipong Kittikajorn, the Vice Manager of the airport said they reviewed the CCTV recordings after the passenger had sent them a request.

He said: "We started investigating what happened and based on the video, we concluded that the man had an intention to keep the bag for himself."

They were able to identify the Toyota car owner as Nattakrit Somnan whom they called but he did not answer.

The airport officers collected evidence and reported the case to the police before he was arrested on November 13.

Nattakrit was taken to Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station and admitted picking up the bag but claimed he did not intend to steal it.

The police officers are still investigating the case while theft charges are being prepared for the man.
