Prayers outside school as protest against racism looms

A group of people gathered outside Brackenfell High School to pray ahead of a protest against racism by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) tomorrow. The EFF was granted permission to protest outside the school after their members were the victims of an unprovoked attack by the Brackenfell community which made international headlines.

The school came into the spotlight after the school was outed for hosting a matric banquet which excluded black students. When the EFF arrived on Monday 9 November, they were met by a community mob who assaulted them and one man was filmed hitting a female EFF member with what looked like a baseball bat.

The senior leadership of the EFF then announced on Wednesday that they would lead EFF members in a march to protest outside the school.

The attack last week caused such outrage that The Sun newspaper in the UK went as far as labelling the the attackers “white thugs”. The headline was later changed.
