A pod of orcas, also known as killer whales, playfully followed a tourist boat off the coast of Southern California on November 18.

The filmer Mark Girardeau of Pacific Offshore Expeditions told Newsflare: "Killer whales are the largest members of the dolphin family, and although they are the apex predators of the sea, they can be very friendly towards boats and humans.

"There have been a few news reports recently of orcas being aggressive to boats, but that's fake - they're just playing and interacting."
