Police clashed with members of a political activist group outside a high school that allegedly excluded black students from a graduation party.

Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) organised a march on November 20 against racism and were granted a permit for 100 protesters to gather outside Brackenfell High School.

Police confronted the group about the number of protesters allowed and warned them to stop wielding sticks, pipes and other objects.

The party has given the school seven days to fire the principal and the teachers involved or they would return.

Members of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and police clashed near Brackenfell High School during an anti-racism march organised by the party after last week’s violent assault on its members by the Brackenfell community.

The left-wing party was granted a permit for 100 protesters to gather outside the school and protest against the exclusion of black students from a matriculates ball organised by parents of the school, which was attended by teachers from the school and filmed by the school’s official videographers. The video of the event was also posted on all the school’s official social media platforms.

The police and the EFF disagreed about the numbers that were allowed to protest. The police also warned the EFF that they would not allow the protest to proceed if the protesters did not relinquish their weapons as many members were visible armed with sticks, steel pipes and other objects.
