This is the adorable moment an old man delightedly played a low-cost DIY drum set he made using barrels and steel basins.

Prawet Deeraksa, 63, played energetic drum beats to his grandchild who watched excitedly outside their house in Ang Thong, central Thailand on November 18.

The former musician and now inventor said his grandson asked for a drum set but his family could not afford to buy one.

The loving grandfather thought of making one from scratch using materials they have stocked in the kitchen.

The retired performer started beating metal oil barrels, pots, pans, and basins - carefully listening to the sound they make - until he finished choosing the materials for his DIY project.

He put holes on the materials to use as drum heads and attached to a stand using screws. The creative grandfather even made a bass drum pedal using an old door hinge.

He said: “My grandson came to me and said he wanted a drum set but we don’t have much money so I made him one using my wife’s kitchen stuff.

“This drum only cost me around 500 THB (12GBP) and it made my grandson happy which delighted me.”

The unique percussion ensemble is installed on a pushcart so his grandson can play it anywhere with friends.
