Thousands of starlings were spotted in a murmuration twirling above Catterick, a village in North Yorkshire, England.

Footage filmed by Jonty Wilson on November 19 shows the birds twist and turn in the sky, giving off the illusion that the murmuration is one big shape-shifting cloud.

Wilson told Newsflare: "The birds started to gather at about 4 pm with flocks coming from all directions creating beautiful shape-shifting clouds of birds twisting and turning before they eventually drop down into the safety of the reed beds to settle down for the night."

Thousands of Starlings congregating to roost in the reed bed of one of the anti-flooding balancing pools next to the newly improved A1M south of Catterick North Yorkshire.
