This is the terrifying moment a hillside collapsed after being battered by Hurricane Iota in Honduras.

Shocked drivers watched as the earth and rocks tumbled onto the road in San Pedro Sula city on Monday (November 23).

Hurricane Iota barrelled through the region killing more than 40 people across Central America and leaving severe floors. The storm has cut access to electricity and drinking water in many cities in Honduras.

Hurricane Iota has killed more than 40 people across Central America as of November 23. Most of the deaths have been in Nicaragua and Honduras and more than 40 others are still missing.

Iota is currently the strongest Atlantic hurricane of the year and is the second ever to strengthen to category 5 level since 1932.
