This is the moment Conservative MP Charles Walker became embroiled in a row with police in Parliament Square after a woman was arrested during a reported anti-lockdown protest.

In the video, filmed this afternoon, Walker can be seen defending the woman's right to protest with police as they carry her spread-eagled into the back of a van.

"What’s she done? This is a disgrace," Walker says.

When challenged by a bystander to do something, Walker responds in the video: "I will do something, I’m a Member of Parliament."

He then continues: "She’s an old lady. You don’t need to obey a legal order as police officers. You must have mothers! What an outrage! She has a fundamental right to protest.

"It will be talked about in Parliament. Email me who she is, what she’s allegedly done," he appeals to eyewitnesses.

According to an eyewitness in the video, the arrested woman was in her sixties.

According to the Spectator's Steerpike blog, after the incident Walker appeared in the House of Commons to make a point of order.

He said that the woman had been taking part in a peaceful protest outside Parliament before she was carried "spread-eagle" to a police van. He has called on the Prime Minister or Home Secretary to answer questions about the arrest, the blog said.

According to agency reports, police said they had made three arrests in the area for breaching coronavirus restrictions after a group of people had gathered to protest, which is against current UK lockdown rules.

According to Newsflare's filmer, the arrested woman had been taking part in an anti-vaccine protest made up of around 20 people near Parliament and that had involved Piers Corbyn, brother of the former Labour leader Jeremy.

"She didn't do anything to mert her being singled out," the filmer said.

Walker is known critic of the government's lockdown policy.
