Travis Chaney, an amateur birder and photographer, captured the incredible moment thousands of geese took over the sky at sunrise near Portland, Oregon.

The event occurred early in the morning on October 13 at the Fernhill Wetlands located in Forest Grove. Chaney, a resident of Portland, arrived at the wetlands early in the morning to do a little birding.

Speaking about the encounter Chaney said: "Just as I arrived, the spectacle of the thousands of cackling geese taking off had begun. I had expected to see a lot of the cackling geese, but the numbers were way bigger than I had even imagined. It was an awe-inspiring sight to see the sky full of so many birds in motion, accompanied by the joyful noise of all those geese."
