A rescued sloth bear tried to attack forest officials and public bystanders during its rescue from a well in south India.

The rescue took place in the village of Singikulam in Tamil Nadu, after the bear had entered from a nearby forest looking for food and fell into an irrigation well.

After villagers discovered the bear, they called the forest department to the scene.

The rescue team reached the spot with a cage that they lowered for it to climb out in, but the bear didn’t use the cage, so they tried to catch it with a net.

Efforts to tranquilise the sloth bear also failed, then all of a sudden the sloth bear managed to climb above the cage and jump outside the well.

Due to this unexpected move all the watchers and the rescue team near the place ran away to escape from the bear as it lashed out. Later it was
successfully tranquilised and returned to the deep forest.

Singikulam is an agricultural village of Nellai District of Tamilnadu. It is located near the forest area. Wild animals entering the Village is the usual sight of that village. Likewise a bear entered the village in search of food. Unfortunately it fell in the well that is being dug for the irrigation purpose. Villagers who went to their fields for doing their work saw the bear swimming in well. Then they immediately informed the same to the forest officials. The rescue team reached the spot with cage they lowered the cage but the bear didn’t climb inside so they tried to catch it with the net. Even that efforts failed. Then tried to tranquilise the sloth bear but again failed. All of a sudden the Sloth bear managed to climb above the cage and jumped outside the well.
And it also tried to attack the people and the forest team who was there in the rescue operation. Due to this unexpected move all the people and the team near the place spread and ran away to escape from the bear. Later it was tranquilised and left in the deep forest.
