This is the heartwarming moment a kitten was rescued after being trapped on a bridge over a river in Malaysia.

The wet and shivering feline had fallen and was seen stuck next to the fast-flowing river after heavy rain in Puchong City, Selangor State, November 17.

Fire and Rescue Service official in Selangor, Hafisham Mohammad Noor, said the little cat was just crying next to a pile of rubbish and wood, which was stuck on the bridge post.

He said: "We arrived at the evacuation site about 15 minutes after receiving the report. There were 10 rescue workers that were deployed."

A rescue worker named Mohammad Syuhada Sulaeiman was assigned as executor to retrieve the cat.

Using a safety rope, Sulaeiman was slowly lowered to pick up the cat that was trapped at a height of more than five meters above the river level.

He then gently coaxed it over to him and scooped up the kitten in his arms.

Hafisham said: "We handed the cat over to the owner who was waiting at the evacuation site."
