Drivers and public transport service owners based on the Jordan-Syria border at Ramtha are demanding the border be reopened after it was closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Footage from November 26 shows dormant vehicles and protesting drivers who are out of work because of the border situation.

The cross-border agreement pre-COVID-19 allowed easy commercial exchange between the two nations.

In addition to this, they are demanding the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) remove the licensing fees due to the current lack of work.

Dozens of drivers and public transport service owners are demonstrating at the Ramtha Border Crossing while demanding the reopening of borders between Jordan and Syria, and the establishment of commercial exchange between the countries. They also demanded that they be exempt from licensing fees charged by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) and Land Transport Regulatory Commision (LTRC), in light of the lack of work since the start of the coronavirus crisis.
