A woman was shocked after finding a python coiled up on the backseat of her car after driving for hours.

Nanphat Boonbadan, 36, had just returned home from a day out with friends in Uthai Thani, central Thailand.

After parking the car in the garage, she opened the backseat door to gather her belongings but a five feet-long python was coiled in one of the seats.

She said: “I just arrived home after visiting a friend's house when I saw the snake behind.

"One of my friends even sat on the same seat where the snake was but we haven't seen it there."

The woman slammed the car door and called the emergency services to evacuate the serpent from her car.

Rescue volunteers arrived at the scene and used a rod to pull the snake out of the car before it was secured inside the bag.

The car was further inspected for more snakes but none were found. Rescuers believe that the snake may have entered through a hole under the car seat used for a gas tube since the car uses alternative fuel such as natural gas.

Nanphat thanked the rescuers before they left with the snake to be released back into the wild.
