This is the adorable moment a pet crocodile climbed onto a sofa to take an afternoon nap.

The four-year-old Morelet's crocodile named Gamora slowly took small steps with her limbs to reach the top of the leather furniture in San Luis Potosi City, Mexico on November 24.

Gamora used her front arms to reach up to the sofa before lifting herself and using her legs to finally land on the couch and sprawl over the pillows.

Owner Jonathan Temminckii said the reptile had its own tank enclosure at their backyard but it preferred sleeping inside the house.

Jonathan said: "Gamora is very special as we have been taking care of her since she was young.

"I have some friends tell me that their crocodiles are super aggressive but my pet seems to enjoy my company and is quite calm."

The pet lover added that the crocodile freely roams the house like a pet dog and believes that it has been imitating them resting on the couch.

Morelet's crocodiles, also known as the Mexican crocodile, is a medium-sized crocodile found only in the fresh waters of the Atlantic regions of Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. They usually grow to about three metres in length.
