According to local people, heavy rains in the area caused hydropower reservoirs to discharge floods simultaneously. Local people will wait at the water outlets to catch fish. They plunged into the running water to catch the fish just swam out of the reservoir.
Many people were swept away by floodwaters, injured and lost in the area when they jumped in and caught fish in flood waters.
Despite dangerous warnings about jumping into the water to catch fish, dozens of people still gather around flood discharge outlets to catch fish despite the dangers.
