A hapless dog had to be rescued after getting its head stuck in a metal gate.

Neighbours noticed the pooch with its body wriggling while trying to free itself from the tight squeeze in Kalasin, northeastern Thailand on November 27 afternoon.

Animal rescuers arrived at the scene they found a brown Apsin dog struggling to pull its head out of a gap of the gate.

The rescuers tried to call for the house owner to come out and open the gate but there was no one home so they decided to go ahead with the rescue.

They used the pliers to enlarge the gap and helped move the pooch’s head out easily for only five minutes.

One of the locals said they were driving a car by the house when they spotted the dog struggling so they called the rescue team.

They said: ''I stopped the car for a moment to take a look at the dog as I figured that it might be struggling. I did not dare to help it myself so I called the rescue team.''

After the dog was set loose it did not go anywhere but sat still in front of the house waiting for the owner to return.
