A massive prominence traces magnetic field lines following an M Class flare on the sun, kicking off a new solar cycle with a bang.
"Watch how the plasma rains down, guided by the sun's magnetic field. This is about three hours of activity," said Andrew McCarthy / @AJamesMcCarthy, who filmed the footage from his backyard in Elk Grove, California on November 29.
