High wind conditions prompted the closure of the upper level of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, which connects Staten Island and Brooklyn, on Monday (November 30).

The US East Coast is bracing for more extreme weather over the next few days as the first major winter storm of the season is set to bring heavy snow and rain.

Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, which connects Staten Island and Brooklyn, was briefly closed due to gusty wind and heavy rain on Monday afternoon around 14:30. The lower level was reopened around 15:00. Many drivers were seen to leaving their vehicles.
