A runaway cow was shot dead by police after it attacked an elderly man in eastern China.

The video, shot in the city of Nantong in Jiangsu Province on November 27, shows a cow running along a road and attacking an elderly man standing in front of a shop.

After the police arrived, they shot the cow dead. They then carried the old man onto a stretcher and sent him to hospital.

Fortunately, the elderly man was not injured seriously.

前几天，江苏南通通州区西亭镇的老郭买了一头牛回来，不料卸车时牛发了疯，挣脱缰绳跑了，在几个村子里乱窜，还上了马路，十分危险。无奈之下，老郭只好报警求助。接到报警后，西亭派出所和通州公安的巡特警相继赶往现场去处置。
疯牛大概有500公斤重，沿着345国道一路狂奔到了西亭红绿灯路口。
在追捕中， 疯牛往西拐弯在一家店铺门口突然转头停下来，门口正好站着一位七八十岁的老人，令人担忧的事情发生了。千钧一发之际，特警也赶到了。
紧急时刻，三声枪声，疯牛被击倒地。
趁着疯牛倒地的瞬间，民警立刻将屋内的老人救出。与此同时，疯牛又动了起来。

通州区公安局巡特警大队特警中队民警 陈双双：
老人（救）出来之后 我一直拿着枪持枪戒备
后来发现牛又要起来
当时预判的必须再补一枪
所以开了第四枪，
疯牛终被击毙。

受伤老人被及时送往医院救治，所幸没有大碍。
