A security camera in a Pennsylvania home caught the moment a passing cyclist removed a "Black Lives Matter" sign from a garden and threw it on the ground.

The footage from November 20 shows the man cycling with a small child stop outside the house in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and pull the sign from the out the ground and chuck it in the middle of the road.

Stephanie Vincent, whose security camera recorded this footage, said: "The man in the video has been confirmed to be a neighbour a few doors down from this house. This family grew up in this house and his family has also lived in the neighbourhood. He knows that this house belongs to a black family."

The man in the video has been confirmed to be a neighbor a few doors down from this house This family grew up in this house and his family has also lived in the neighborhood as long He knows that this house belongs to a black family Here is the story from the person who shared this videoHe is going to be charged with two summary offenses criminal mischief simple trespassing It was our decision to press charges We believe he should be held accountable under the law Pressing charges sends a message to others that they can have their racist beliefs but they cannot act on them without repercussion I also am going to write him a letter Will it change his heart or mind I have no idea or nor do I care But he will know the harm he has caused I had fully intended on posting his name publicly on social media today However after talking with each member of my family about what they wanted and doing some soul searching Ive decided against it For one my family doesnt deserve potentially more trauma or unwanted attention And secondly I asked myself what would be accomplished by publicly shaming him What would that do to actually the further the cause of Black Lives Mattering in America Instead of further punishing one mans act of hate and drawing more attention to a hateful man- I choose a larger task I challenge all of you who were appalled by his actions to be more than not racist We especially those of us who arent black must be ANTI-RACIST Here are my thoughts on how to begin to do that 1 Seek out education about anti-racism and systematic racism in America You didnt learn this in school 2 Take a deep dive into your own heart and mind into your own bias and prejudice and do it over and over again 3 Listen to black peoplereally listen 4 Support black people patronize their business donate to aligned organizations rally behind black activism 5 Teach your kids to be anti-racist rather than color blind 6 Be courageous and STAND UP TO SPEAK OUT AGAINST RACISM IN ALL ITS FORMS SMALL AND LARGE WHENEVER YOU SEE IT This isnt always easy to do but its absolutely necessary if things are to change 7 Let people know that Black Lives Matter to you Refuse to be silent about it Put a sign up at your home a sticker on your car a frame on your profile picture share on social media attend social justice events Let your friends families community know where you stand Thank you to the Upper Merion Township Police Department for taking this incident seriously and thank all of you for your outpouring of support We are so very grateful It definitely helps to know how many folks truly have our back Although its hard to feel safe after youve been violated we do feel safer because of youName Stephanie VincentLocation King of Prussia Pennsylvania USA
