Seven days after Cyclone Nivar wreaked havoc across the Indian region of Tamil Nadu another cyclone is on its way bringing with it heavy rain and strong winds.

Footage from December 4 shows the coastal town of Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu being subject to Cyclone Burevi's gusty winds and heavy rain.

Burevi - named by the Maldives - made its way across the ocean hitting Sri Lanka initially and then onto southern India.

The new cyclone is said to be weaker than last week's Nivar but authorities are still on high alert and the Indian Metrological Department has warned of heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Cyclone Burevi brought gusty winds and heavy rains to the Tamilnadu. Disturbed seas and rough waves were seen in the coastal town of Rameshwaram. Even though the fishing boats were tied maintaining a safe distance the boats were damaged. Thangachimadam area received the highest amount of rainfall in comparison the entire district. Streets of Thangachimadam areas have been flooded with rain waters.
Sea water entered in some villages and the villagers were strangled in the waters. Immediately the coastal guards with their boats rescued the villagers to safety. Train and bus service to rameshwaram town has been stopped. Even though the cyclone got weekend into deep depression Rains and the gusty winds has not been settled.
