Indian customs officials seize gold worth $ 48100 at Chennai International Airport

Based on Intelligence reports the customs officials seized gold worth over $ 48100 from a passenger at Chennai International Airport in Tamil Nadu south Indian state on December 3.

The visuals show, the recovered gold by the customs officials place on a table for further investigation.

The reports state that two passengers Syed Abuthahir (37) of Chennai and Jahubarali Abdul Kader (54) of Ramanathapuram arrived at the Chennai International Airport from Dubai in Indigo Flight 6E-66.

The duo were intercepted at the exit and 6 bundles of gold paste was recovered.
Total gold weighing 1.56 lbs (706 grams) was hidden in the abdomen and one of them has been arrested as he had prior case registered due to smuggling.

The officials stated that further investigation is under process.
