A couple went ahead and got married in personal protective equipment (PPE) after the bride tested positive for COVID-19 on her wedding day (December 6) in northern India.

Footage shows the couple in full PPE at the wedding ceremony conducted by a priest who was also wearing protective gear.

The woman tested positive for COVID-19 after officials in Kelwara, Rajasthan collected samples from residents on December 4.

Sub Divisional Officer of Shahabad Rahul Malhotra explained that after meeting with other officials, the decision was made to hold the ceremony at a COVID care centre.

“We thought whether to stop her wedding or go ahead with the event. We held a meeting with different departments, including health and police, and decided to conduct the ceremony at the COVID care centre itself,” Malhotra said.

After the wedding, the groom was also admitted to the COVID centre along with his wife where the couple will stay until they test negative.
