Police were hunting a German expat after his three Rottweilers allegedly mauled a neighbour's pet dog to death.

Thomas Veit, 44 owns the three mutts - two black and one brown - which were let out of the house on September 19 in Thailand.

The three dogs chased a stray cat to a neighbour's property around 300metres away, when a six-year-old pooch named Dexter tried to stop them.

A chicken was seen fleeing in fear before Dexter ran outside of the house and barked at the intruder dogs to save the cat which escaped.

However, instead of backing off, the three dogs allegedly mauled the Thai Bangkaew pet until it was bloody. They only stopped to attack when it was already weak after sustaining deep wounds.

After the dogs left, Dexter struggled to return inside the house while blood was dripping from its fur until it collapsed on the hallway and died.

Rutairat Wongwiwwat, 38, was devastated after finding her beloved dog lifeless inside the house.

She reviewed the CCTV footage and saw what happened before rushing to file a complaint to the local police station.

The pet owner and her brother Suwapol Poosaenpol carried their dog's body to Krabi police station to have the man prosecuted.

They also want to discuss compensation but after almost three months, the man never even visited their home to apologize.

The heroic dog was buried on its owner's backyard while the investigation is still ongoing.

Suwapol said: "I want the police to speed up the arrest. This man does not obey the laws of this country. I will also award whichever officer that manages to arrest him."

After failing to visit the police station despite being given summons three times, an arrest warrant was issued on November 26.

The German expat is expected to be arrested for questioning, and be imprisoned for not more than one month, given a fine not exceeding 1,000 Baht, or both.

Police from the Krabi provincial police station said that an arrest warrant had been issued for Veit but they had still not found him.
