Members of fascist Spanish Falange party marched in Madrid, Spain on December 7 against illegal immigration.

The protesters marched in support of the Canary Island where 12,000 migrants arrived this year after crossing from the coast of Africa.

The filmer explained that there is a growing attitude of xenophobia as the influx of migrants crossed with the economic uncertainty fuels mistrust and fear.

The Spanish phalanx has demonstrated to support the Canary Islands against illegal immigration. The rebound in migrant arrivals to the islands fuels xenophobic discourses on the part of the population and puts politicians and experts on guard. This year some 12,000 African migrants have arrived in the Canary Islands, the highest number since the so-called cayuco crisis in 2006, which has fueled mistrust, fear, and xenophobia. The uncertainty and the health and economic threat caused by the coronavirus have been mixed.
