Joseph Trotta dropped to one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend in a surprise twist at their gender reveal party in West Hempstead, New York.

As the gold and silver confetti popped Angela Bassi was left confused until she saw her Joseph on one knee holding an engagement ring.

She explained: "I threw a gender reveal party to share with our family and friends to find out if our first child was going to be a boy or a girl. I went about my day not knowing it was going to be the best day of my life.

"When the confetti popped I was confused staring in the air at silver and gold colours not understanding what the gender was.

"As I looked down, there he was the love of my life on one knee asking me to marry him and as you could tell I could not believe my eyes.

"My whole entire body was filled with excitement. So not only did I get to find out I was going to be a momma to a baby boy but my best friend asked me to marry him.

"My whole life was complete in that very moment. This moment was one I truly will NEVER forget."
