A Thai man built an impressive replica of a 19th century hore-drawn carriage that is powered with a motorcycle engine.

Suthep Thukmaimee, 56, has been making vintage cars at his home in Sukhothai, Thailand since 2013 as a hobby.

Locals who see him cruising round town in his contraptions have dubbed him 'Chang Thep', which means in English the 'Master Technician'.

His recent creation is a horseless carriage modelled on the kind that used to run along the streets of Bangkok in the 19th century.

He fitted an 125cc motorcycle engine to a teak wooden carriage he bought from a neighbouring province. Instead of being pulled by horses, it is powered by the motorcycle engine.

The chassis framework for the vehicle was handcrafted from wood by the talented mechanic.

Suthep used to work as a carpenter making furniture for a local store, until he attended a vintage car show in Bangkok eight years ago.

After being exposed to the vintage cars, he shifted to making their beautiful replicas after a year and left his job.

He said: "My first vintage car was also fitted with an engine from a motorcycle. I made another classic jeep adapted from a pump using a bike engine as well."
