A screw nut was stuck in a four-year-old girl's finger for five days after she used it as a ring.

The innocent toddler, Gene Cabello, found the nut on her father's toolbox in Caloocan City, the Philippines on December 2.

She took the nut and wore it as a ring accessory before playing a princess make-believe game with her older brother.

However, she found the hardware was stuck in her finger when she tried to remove it before dinner.

Gene was afraid she would be scolded and punished so she did not tell it to her parents right away.

However, the nut had scraped her skin and began to bleed so she revealed the finger to her mother the next morning (December 3).

The worried mum rushed her daughter to the hospital but was unsuccessful in removing the nut.

They had also been to two other clinics but were asked to transfer since they don't have the medical tool to help them.

Medics referred them to a private hospital in Quezon City but the impoverished parents could not afford the bills.

A kind neighbour, Arvince, uploaded the girl's pictures on social media to ask for help in sending her to the hospital.

The girl had to endure the nut for four more days until a good Samaritan contacted them and paid for the bills.

The mother and the girl returned to the hospital on December 7 where the nut was cut using a grinder.

Arvince said: "I felt bad when I saw her situation so I decided to post it on my social account just to ask for financial help for her. Fortunately, a good person sent money to help the child's condition."

The nut was removed successfully from the girl's finger and was allowed to return home on the same day. She is still recovering from the wounds left by the metal.
