A skilful street seller balances a large woven tray on his head while carrying baskets in each hand and selling sweet treats in Thailand.

Anusorn Surarerk, 63, has been selling traditional Thai pandan snacks for 48 years in Phitsanulok province.

He carries more than 1,200 rice dough stuffed with sweets in the tray and baskets and sells them around town.

The street seller said he could open a stall and offer the snacks to passers-by, but he prefers to be a mobile hawker because "it's good exercise."

He said: "It’s a good way to exercise. Balancing them on my head makes me feel energised, without doing this I would often feel pain in my body."

Vvillagers have become used to Anusorn and call him 'Uncle Dang'. They often wait for him to buy the treats.

The snacks are particularly popular during the winter, so he makes an extra 1,200 pieces at home in case his stocks run out before lunch to sell again in the afternoon.

Anusorn said that he learned to balance trays in his head when he was in the second grade in Nakhon Sawan where he used to live.

He said: "My mom would force me to balance the snacks on my head and sell them which made me cry.

"But when we moved to Phitsanulok, I was 15-years-old and kept doing the same thing until it became my way of earning money to take care of my family."

When he just started, he would sell three snacks for one Baht, but now he sells four for 20 Baht.

The kind seller also shares his recipe to customers if they ask him, but said they like the ones he makes better.
