The man is an excavator driver. During one observation other people used a tripod or selfie stick to take photos. He came up with a way to use the excavator crane as a selfie tool.
He tied the phone to the top of the crane and used it to lift the phone.
He controls the phone's photography with a Bluetooth headset.
In the video, the phone captures the moment the man sits in the excavator cabin operating the crane.
