Agitated elephant herd chases wildlife officials in Sri Lanka
A herd of elephants was spotted chasing away officials of the Wildlife Department after being agitated at a national park in Sri Lanka on December 9.
The incident took place in Minneriya National Park in the North Central Province.
A video of the incident showcases a huge herd of elephants walking towards the vehicle the officials are onboard. One of the jumbos, however, takes offence of the humans straying close to the herd and begins increasing its pace. In a few moments, it becomes evident that the mammal is furious as it trumpets while chasing away the vehicle.
Those on board the tractor panic and start yelling in order to keep the jumbo at bay. Within moments, another elephant is spotted speeding towards the vehicle from a different passage.
The second elephant seems to be even more agitated than the first one and frightens the officials immensely. However, it decides against harming those who are chosen for the safeguarding of the animals themselves and the officials escape unhurt.
