US woman captures rare sighting of moose triplets in backyard
A homeowner in Alaska managed to capture footage of a mother moose and her triplets, an incredibly rare occurrence in nature.
Kathy Nuttle, who moved to Alaska with her family from New York eight years ago, was preparing a meal for a small gathering when she spotted the moose with her three babies on November 30.
The chances of multiple births, usually twins, increases when a moose cow is well-nourished and safe during pregnancy.
Triplets, however, are an extremely rare sighting.
Speaking about the video Kathy said: "We looked out our kitchen window to see a moose mother with three babies - probably born May 2020.
"Triplets are very rare, so I gathered my camera and went out to our back deck and took the video and several pictures.
"We have moose in our yard often, but not a mother with three babies."
