This is the shocking moment a car skidded out-of-control on a snow-covered road and crashed into an icy ditch.

The driver was travelling along a remote mountain road during freezing weather in Bykle, Norway, on December 6.

However, he appeared to have misjudged the surface and skidded while taking a bend.

Without snow covers on the tires, the driver was unable to manage the silver Audi estate and it ploughed into a ditch on the roadside.

Rescue teams arrived to tow the car out of the jam. The driver was unharmed.

George Talaba, who was travelling behind, said the car in front was being driven by his friend while they went on a trip together.

He said: ''The crash looked like my buddy tried to avoid an imaginary friend who was standing in the middle of the road.

"Every passing car stopped to ask if we need help. That's what it's like in Norway. We asked someone to call the recovery company since we didn't know the location we were, just somewhere on top of a mountain. Luckily no one was hurt and the rescuers arrived after 10 minutes."
