Greek citizens flock to Aristotelous Square in Thessaloniki, Greece on December 15 to take photos in front of the 13-meter-high Christmas tree and the thousands of lights illuminating the city despite a lockdown to combat the pandemic.

The signal was given and 9,000 lanterns of the central tree were lit along with the impressive red towers that frame the Christmas tree in Aristotelous Square, marking the beginning of this year, special due to the pandemic festive season in Thessaloniki Greece. Despite virus rules, the lighting attracted the interest of the people, young and old, who hurried to see the festive decoration up close, to photograph it and to be photographed next to it. The central tree that has been placed in Aristotelous Square is 13 meters high. It is decorated with 9,000 lanterns, while it is framed by 1,500 lamps. The lighting is special since a specific program was created on the spot for its management (lighting show) that alternates every two minutes.
